Methods and clinical benefits of NAD optimization: A clinician’s perspective
February 15, 2023 | NAD, Wellness, Aging
Dr. Richard M. Delany MD, FACC
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a coenzyme found in all living cells. It is essential to life because it catalyzes reactions for more than 500 enzymes, including those involved in the production of cellular energy (ATP). NAD plays an essential role in many hallmarks of aging: DNA repair, epigenetic alteration, loss of proteostasis, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, and deregulated nutrient sensing. NAD declines with age and lower NAD levels are linked to loss of function and vitality and many age-related diseases.
Different approaches have been used to correct NAD deficiencies in humans. Their relative efficacy has been debated by academic scientists and practitioners for over a decade but has only become clear recently because of the availability to test NAD levels in patients and consumers. Dr. Delany will discuss the possible ways that are available on the market and will present data from his own patients who have their NAD levels optimized through oral supplementation with a special NAD precursor formulation, the Accuri™ Vitality Boost from Jinfiniti Precision Medicine. Dr. Delany will also present a series of patients who have seen clinical improvement from oral NAD precursor supplementation.
